Conventional Milling

Conventional Milling (Up Milling)

In Up Milling the direction of cutter rotation is opposite to the direction of work piece movement (i.e. direction of feed).In Up Milling minimum thickness of chip is at the beginning of the cut and it reaches to the maximum at the end. In Up Milling the cutting force is directed up words and this tends to lift the work.The surface finish obtained in up milling is not smooth.

Climb Milling

Down Milling (Climb Milling)

In Down Milling the direction of cutter rotation is same as the direction of work piece movement (i.e. direction of feed).

In Down Milling the maximum thickness of chip is at the beginning of cut and a zero thickness at the end of cut.

In climb milling cutting force is directed downwards and this tends to pull the job.

In climb milling better surface finish can be obtained.

What is CNC Programming?

CNC Programming is the procedure by which the sequence of operations to be performed on CNC Machines for manufacturing a part. Preparation of CNC Programming involves three phases, which are setup phase, metal removal phase and system shutdown phase.  Each phase has got its own     importance. Every phase of CNC Programming is constructed with different blocks. Each block contains words with special symbols, numbers, letters, G-Codes, M-codes and Cartesian coordinates(x, y, z) and their values depending on the   part drawing,   part material, available   cutting tools, inserts and machine controller. Each block is separated by end of block symbol.
