ICCM-2016

OUR PARTICIPATION IN  “ICCM-2016”

Department  of  Mechanical  Engineering  &  Condition  Monitoring Society of India invited  ”  Tool Cutter Technologies ”      to  participate    in    ” International Conference on Condition Monitoring “(ICCM-2016)  held at  GIT, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam, on October 26th & 27th 2016. They gave us first opportunity to setup our Stall in University Campus and have enabled us to interact with deligates participated in conference.

During  these  two days we  interacted  with  many  Dignitaries, Deligates,Professors, Associate Professors, Faculty Members, Research Scholors and Students  from various  Organisations, Universities  and Institutions  in india and abroad. 

We have explained about our present  and  future  activities.

Rolling  is the process of passing plastically deforming metal between a pair of rolls rotating in opposite direction placing one (cw rotation) above the other (ccw rotation) maintaining certain gap(will be explained in future postings) between them. During the process of deformation of metal passing between rolls, is subjected to high compressive forces generated by rotating rolls. This leads to high compressive stresses, because of the friction generated between the surfaces of the rotating rolls and metal. As the metal is under compression, it gets squeezed between the surfaces of pair of rotating rolls, the thickness of metal reduces and length increases (i.e. reduction in cross sectional area). Rolling is generally a hot working process unless specifically mentioned as cold rolling.

Basing on the temperatures of metal, rolling is classified into two processes,

1.Hot rolling                 2.Cold rolling

Roll Pass Design_Grooved Roll

Grooved rolls are rolls which are machined from blank rolls in CNC machine shop, of roll shop of  rolling mills in steel industry. Grooved rolls are turned on CNC lathes according to the tool paths generated from CNC programs developed manually or any cam packages like Edge cam Mastercam, and Gibbs cam etc., by CNC programmer. These grooved rolls as a pair, are used in rolling mills for metal deforming process called rolling.

Blank roll are rolls machined to the drawing sizes from forzed rolls by the roll manufacturer. These rolls are supplied to customers for further machining in roll shops of rolling mills of steel industry.

Mastercam_Branch Point

branch pointA branch point in Mastercam chaining, is a point where the end point of two or more entities meet. While creating geometry, for example to create hatch in specific region “BCDEB” of a boundary “ABCDEA” as shown in figure, I have drawn an entity line from one point B to point E in that boundary. That line separated full boundary “ABCDEA” into two regions as ABEA and BCDEB as shown in image. Then clicked on Mastercam create menu, drafting and X-hatch. It asked me to select pattern. I selected pattern and set the parameters clicked ok. Mastercam interface shown the chaining dialog box continuous chaining highlighted by default. I have clicked on entity BC, chaining started from BC and stopped at point E. At point E it shown branch point reached select next branch point. Then I selected the entity EB and click ok, as hatching needs closed boundary and my required region is selected. Later chained region is filled with selected hatch pattern.
